Dr. Porter is a neuro-oncologist at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. Since her arrival in 2008, she has worked
diligently to provide care for patients with tumors and cancers involving the nervous system in addition
to patients who have neurologic complications resulting from their systemic cancers. Dr. Porter
received her undergraduate education at Spelman College, where she was a Presidential Scholar, and
went on to receive her medical degree at Tempe University School of Medicine. She completed her
internship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester in Internal Medicine, residency in Neurology, and Fellowship in
Neuro-Oncology. Dr. Porter serves on the committees for Diversity and Inclusion as well as
Professionalism at Mayo Clinic. She is the director of undergraduate pipeline programs for Mayo Clinic
School of Medicine and Science and enjoys teaching Cultural Humility and Cross Cultural Communication
in the medical school. Her research interests are aimed at ensuring that patients with brain cancers
have the best quality of life as possible. She is currently the primary investigator on a nationally
enrolling trial which will be the defining study for the utility of psychostimulants to improve quality of
life as well as thinking and memory in patients with glioblastoma multiforme.
Dr. Porter has created a named annual and endowed scholarship at Spelman College the first of which
was awarded to Miss Alexus Echols c/o 22.
Spiritual, courageous, giving, upbeat, beautiful, artistic and dedicated; this is Ketonya Bankston! Ketonya comes from humble beginnings growing up in the small historic town of Winslow, Arizona. She has (2) older sisters and (3) younger brothers. With a mother that passed away at the tender age of 34-years old, Ketonya and her siblings were raised by a strong, passionate man of God; their father Glenn Mattox. Before their mother Sandra Mattox passed away, she instilled in her children to always be independent and to NEVER depend on anyone; a staple Ketonya has lived by for most of her life.
Early on in Ketonya’s life, she attained a strong desire to one day become a well-known force and
contender within the fashion industry. Ketonya attended Northern Arizona University on an academic scholarship and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fashion Merchandising with a Minor in Advertising. To-date, Ketonya has become a very successful professional model with experience on the local, national & international levels; having appeared in national campaigns for PetsMart, Executive Realty, Massage Envy, Century Link and ATA Airlines just to name a few. She was also the first African American to have a (5)-page spread in Oro Valley Magazine, she’s appeared on the pages of Essence Magazine and has a running national campaign with Leslie’s Swimming Pools, Sprint and AT&T.
In 2011 Ketonya along with (2) of her younger brothers Shimeon and Shimon Mattox (whom are twins) founded and created what is known as Style Stalkers, LLC. Style Stalkers, LLC is a delicious monthly fashion blog that offers an array of fashion services from head-to-toe make overs, fashion styling, closet make overs, one-on-one model/runway instruction, one-on-one makeup instruction, poise & confidence classes and wedding and fashion show production. The goal of Style Stalkers, LLC is to show that beauty comes in an array of sizes, shapes and colors. However, true beauty resonates from within. Style Stalkers, LLC was created to help bring out the best style in you!
Ketonya is also the founder of FabyLASH, LLC a 100% handcrafted luxury mink eyelash brand. These lashes are created from Mink that naturally fall off the animal, making FabyLASH animal cruelty free. This brand is sold online globally at fabylash.com.
Ketonya is happily married to NFL Alumni Michael Bankston Sr. Together, from previous unions,
Ketonya and Michael have three incredibly bright and intelligent daughters and one excelling and talented son. Ketonya maintains great balance in her life by keeping God first and allowing everything else to fall into place.

Pat is passionate about helping women understand the power they possess by increasing their self-esteem and confidence to unlock their potential to be better sisters, friends, wives, partners, mothers and women in general by understanding the value they bring into their relationship with self and others.
As a best selling author she wrote the book “The Sisterhood.. lessons I learned along the way about women and friendships” which was the catalyst for starting the Sisterhood Movement and then she helped 17 women share their story and become authors in the Amazon #1 best selling book “Empowering Women to Succeed..Turning Tragedy into Triumph.” Pat defines “True Sisterhood” as the ability to Love, Support and Celebrate the Women in Our lives which will help us bond to do great things together.
Ms. Banks was born in Phoenix, Arizona and raised throughout the Grand Canyon State. She spent most of her adolescent years in the small town Winslow, located in the northeastern region of Arizona. In 2007, she graduated from Winslow High. After receiving her high school diploma, she went on to pursue her Bachelor's Degree and became a Sun Devil. She studied at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona and graduated in 2011 from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences earning a Bachelor of Arts in African & African American Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Ms. Banks went on to complete her Masters in Social Work at the University of Houston, in Houston, Texas.
Ms. Banks serves on the Board of Directors for the YWCA in their mission of "Eliminating Racism and Empowering Women" platform, for the 2017-2020 year. She is involved with the National Council of Negro Women serving as the 3rd Vice President which focuses on empowering young women of color through mentorship, community service and college and career readiness. Ms. Banks has served in a multitude of nonprofit leadership positions in her undergraduate studies at Arizona State University and continues to be passionate about serving and uplifting the community. She is currently employed as a Social Worker with Legal Services, at Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Ms. Banks is also a mentor in the Future Inspired Native American Leaders Program with the Phoenix Indian Center. An Arizona native, and a woman of Native and African American descent, Ms. Banks' primary goal is to give back to her Native American and African American community by encouraging and aiding the youth to achieve their ultimate success.
Whitney Walker is a native of Virginia holding a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Juris Doctor. During her time as a Law Student, she served as President of the Black Law Student Association, Judicial Clerk for the Arizona Supreme Court, law clerk for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Student Attorney for the Governor’s Regulatory Review Council. Because of her Leadership, Whitney is an inaugural member of Arizona Women’s Education & Employment Foundation (AWEE) Leadership Institute for Women and is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Most recently, Whitney served as the Executive Vice President for the Young Democrats of America for the state of Arizona and an appointed National Committeewomen. Whitney is currently a precinct committeewomen for Legislative District 24 Democrats and serves as the district's treasurer where she advises on political funding. With her years of campaign experience and growing need for inclusive representation, Whitney co-founded EMPAC enterprises, a political consulting firm dedicated to advancing women of color into campaign management and public office. Drawn to her passion and committed for social justice and equity, Whitney has transition from the corporate setting to the non-profit sector as the Public Policy Coordinator for Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence. In her professional capacity, she establishes public policy priorities and lobbies those efforts as they relate to Domestic and Sexual Violence survivors and their families. Whitney was recently appointed to serve a three year term on the Human Relations Commission for the city of Phoenix and is a LFC fellowship 2017 alumni.

Born with a personality that dazzles anyone in her presence, Charity is a girl's best friend and a guy's go-to girl. Her lovable energy has helped her capture the attention of audiences from the start of her career as a reporter, to her current role as host on RightThisMinute.
Charity made mornings memorable as a feature reporter, adding a vibrant mix to the viewers' day in cities in California and North Carolina. She enjoyed meeting new people, and showcasing undiscovered gems in their neighborhoods.
A graduate of the School of Journalism at California State University, Long Beach, she began her career in public relations with the Los Angeles Clippers. Charity found her passion and purpose by tapping into her ability to connect with her community, shedding light on issues that deeply impact their world. You can often find her lending a helping hand to non-profit causes close to her heart. As a woman who loves live music, lives for a good football game, and embraces new experiences, Charity welcomes adventure and finds travel a necessary spice of life.

Special award presentation to local Alumna Dr. Alyx B. Porter Umphrey for her commitment to advocating for scholarships and her commitment to provide Spelman students with uninhibited access to education, as well as her many contributions to develop the lasting legacy of Spelman College. Award presentation to local Women Leaders from the Phoenix Community who we recognize as Empowerment Change Agents, carrying the Spirit of our Founders. The celebration of our local newly admitted student and current student recognition, lunch, open bar, gift bags and networking with Phoenix’s influential Spelman Alumnae and local community of women leaders.
